PogWheel

A radial launcher for Windows

Everything you reach for, one flick away.

Hold a hotkey and a wheel opens under your cursor. Point at a slice, let go, and it runs. You decide what every slice does.

Out of the box:CtrlAltSpace

01 How it works

Hold.

Hold the hotkey. Ctrl Alt Space opens the Main wheel, and every wheel can have its own key.

Point.

Nudge the mouse toward a slice. The hub names it and says what it will do.

Let go.

Release the key and the slice runs. Let go without pointing at anything and nothing happens.

1 to 9
Run a slice straight from the keyboard.
Tab or arrows
Move round the wheel. Enter runs the lit slice.
Esc
Close the wheel, or step back out of a nested one.
Right-click
Jump to the editor with that slice selected.

Rather not hold a key? Tap mode keeps the wheel open until you click.

02 Slices

One wheel, twelve kinds of slice.

Each slice is one action you set up in the editor. Anything that types or moves a window acts on the app you were in before the wheel opened.

  • Open app or file

An .exe, a document, a folder or a shortcut, with arguments if you want them.

  • Open link

Any address, in your default browser.

  • Run command

Runs through the shell with no console window.

  • Send keys

Any key combination, sent to the app you were just using.

  • Type text

Snippets, addresses and sign-offs, typed where your cursor was.

  • Media control

Play or pause, next, previous, volume and mute.

  • Window control

Snap to a half, maximize, minimize, centre, keep on top, show the desktop.

  • System

Lock, sleep, screen snip, Task Manager, Settings, the Recycle Bin, sign out, restart.

  • Paste an earlier copy

Any of your last few copies, pasted where you were working.

  • Open another wheel

Wheels inside wheels. The default Main wheel opens Media, Clipboard and Window.

  • Open notepad

PogWheel's own plain notepad, the same one as in the tray menu.

  • Ask Claude about the selection

Optional and off by default. How it works.

03 The editor

The preview is the wheel.

The editor's preview and the wheel your hotkey opens are drawn by the same code, so what you build is exactly what you get.

Make it yours

  • 2 to 12 slices per wheel, and as many wheels as you like.
  • Over a hundred icons, or the real Windows icon of the app a slice opens.
  • A colour per wheel, with per-slice overrides and an adjustable size.
  • Wheels per program. Share one hotkey and get your browser wheel in the browser and your editor wheel in your code editor.

Quick to change

  • Drag slices to rearrange them, and sidebar rows to reorder wheels.
  • Undo and redo with Ctrl Z and Ctrl Y. Deleting something offers it straight back.
  • Drop a file or link from Explorer or a browser onto a slice to point it there.
  • Export as JSON and import your wheels on another PC.

04 Clipboard and notes

Your last few copies, numbered.

Press Ctrl Alt V and what you copied recently is laid out as slices. Slot 1 is the newest. Point and let go, or press its number, and it is pasted where you were.

  • Kept in memory only. Never written to disk, gone when PogWheel quits.
  • Copies an app marks as private, like a password manager's, are never recorded.
  • Turn it off, empty it, or keep 2 to 12 slots.

And a plain page for notes.

Open it from the tray or from a slice. It saves a moment after you stop typing and follows your light or dark theme.

Unlike clipboard history, notes are kept on disk in notes.txt, because you typed them there to keep them.

05 Optional: Claude

Fix the sentence without leaving the app.

Select text anywhere and flick a Claude slice. The reply replaces your selection, or lands after it. Each slice carries its own prompt.

Selected in your emailhey, can u send the report by fri? need it for mondays meeting

Turning it on adds a starter wheel with these six. Edit them or write your own, pick Opus, Sonnet or Haiku, and Esc cancels a request still running.

Off until you turn it on
A fresh install has no Claude slices and makes no network calls.
Your own Anthropic API key
Stored encrypted to your Windows account and only ever sent to Anthropic.
Only the selection and the prompt
Nothing else on your screen or clipboard goes with it.
Never in private apps
List your password manager under "Never in" and a Claude slice there does nothing. It doesn't even copy the selection.
Nothing logged or saved
What is sent and what comes back never reach a log or a file. Anthropic's API terms apply once it arrives there.
Marked on the wheel
Every Claude slice wears a small sparkle, so the slices that go online always say so.

06 Privacy

Offline, and it keeps very little.

No network calls, no telemetry, no account. The one exception is a Claude slice you set up yourself. This is everything PogWheel writes, all in %APPDATA%\PogWheel:

config.jsonYour wheels and settings, with config.backup.json beside it in case the main file is ever damaged. A copy of it is a complete backup.
notes.txtWhat you type in the notepad.
claude.keyYour Anthropic key, only if you add one, encrypted with Windows DPAPI so it only opens under your account.
Never writtenClipboard history, the text a Claude slice sends, and the reply it gets back.

PogWheel is still being built. Your address is kept for that one message and nothing else. Ask [email protected] to delete it any time.
